A visit to Xiqu Centre

Through the guided tour of Xiqu Centre, the ambassadors learnt about the settings and equipment of preparing a Chinese opera as well as the rich history of the art of Chinese opera. Besides, students learnt various Xiqu elements embedded in the architecture and design of the Centre. The highlight was the performance of a classic excerpt from the Cantonese opera The Purple Hairpin in “Reunion of Sword and Hairpin”《紫釵記》之〈劍合釵圓〉. Students appreciated to be given this chance to enjoy the Chinese intangible cultural heritage. This activity has also developed students’ interest in Chinese culture.
