In order to cultivate students' understanding of the diverse needs and challenges faced by different social groups and to foster empathy and community engagement, our school's Community Service Team arranged for students to participate in the "Jockey Club VOLUNTEER TOGETHER – School Based Programme 2024/25," focusing on Ageing and Elderly Care.
Based on a structured “Plan-Serve-Reflect” approach, students engaged in brainstorming sessions to generate volunteer service ideas, design service directions, and outline execution details. They practiced volunteer service in the community to enhance their leadership skills.
Students designed interactive games and informative booklets aimed at educating elderly individuals on the use of technology and strategies to prevent online scams. Students conducted a reflective assessment of their experiences related to the volunteer service. They evaluated both the strengths and areas for improvement identified during the preparation process, which enhanced their understanding of the overall service experience.
Through the provision of technology education, the voluntary service assisted the elderly in applying information technology in their daily lives and promoting inter-generational digital inclusion, thereby fostering a more inclusive community.
